I almost broke social media reposting rule #1 this morning.

I wake up this morning like every other morning. Eating breakfast and reading through the morning email. Then I get to my morning email from Medium. To my surprise, there is an article that says "OMG It’s Happening: China Just Dumped The US Dollar". So I'm like wow it finally happened. I'm clicking overexcited to read and find out it's a member's only article, I'm not a member. Then I scrolled back up to the top of the page, copied the title and did a search. If this person is reporting on it, then other people are also.

When I did the search, I got something, but not the rash of articles I expected. So I'm reading them and noticed all of them were done in the middle of April. I got back to the Medium article, it was done at the same time. Why would Medium send out an email with an article that's 2 months old? I just shook my head and remembered the number 1 rule of reposting.

"Search for additional sources covering the story. If you can't find any other reports, it's best to move on."

This keeps you a reliable source to your friends and followers.
